Day 5 was a short 33 km but 1300 m altitude gain. Right from the start the first hour and a half was uphill. Regardless today was one of the most spectacular from a scenery perspective.
There was one challenge my route was blocked by a boom saying no entry by order of the government. So I took a bit of a tough detour. When I arrived at the restaurant for lunch there was a notice saying it will only open at 15.00. Luckily I found a very nice alternative a couple of km’s later and had a really good lunch tagliatelle with tiger prawns. The afternoon was through forests most of the way with some very technical sections along very steep hillsides. I made quite good time after lunch and arrived around 3 pm at the hotel.
